Bay City Caregivers Rally for Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s
BAY CITY, MI — Under bright Michigan skies along the scenic Saginaw River, Wenona Park transformed into a vibrant sea of purple as community members gathered for the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Bay City, Michigan. Bringing together families, local advocates, and healthcare professionals, the event aimed to raise critical funds, increase awareness, and support families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
Among the key local organizations stepping up to support the cause was All Americans Home Health & Hospice Care. Their team joined hundreds of participants walking shoulder-to-shoulder along the riverfront route to honor patients, support family caregivers, and push toward a future without Alzheimer's.
Caregivers on the Front Lines: All Americans Home Health & Hospice Care
For organizations like All Americans Home Health & Hospice Care, participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is more than an annual tradition—it is a reflection of their everyday mission. Providing specialized in-home assistance, skilled nursing, and compassionate end-of-life care across Michigan, the care team works directly with individuals and families navigating the complexities of memory loss.
"Walking in this event allows our team to stand alongside the very families we serve every day," said a representative from the care team. "Whether providing daily assistance at home or hospice care when comfort is paramount, our goal is to ensure no family walks this path alone."
Symbolism in Bloom: The Promise Garden
A cornerstone of the Bay City event was the poignant Promise Garden ceremony. Walkers carried color-coded, flower-shaped windmills, each reflecting a personal connection to the movement:
Blue: Living with Alzheimer's or another dementia.
Yellow: Serving as a caregiver for a loved one.
Purple: Walking in memory of someone lost to the disease.
Orange: Supporting the vision of a world without Alzheimer's.
Participants from All Americans Home Health & Hospice Care carried yellow and purple flowers, honoring both the patients they have cared for and the ongoing dedication of family caregivers in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
The Ongoing Fight Against Dementia
While walk day brings powerful community unity, the efforts continue year-round. Funds raised through the Bay City event directly support the Alzheimer’s Association Michigan Chapter, fueling local support groups, educational resources, and groundbreaking clinical research searching for effective treatments.
